How can I create a layout

More precisely, I would like to have a menu on left only with some slideshows/pictures on the page. No other elements, nor text at all.

Hello,

To create a layout having sidebar and content only, go to TemplateToaser and follow the given steps :

1) General -> Layout -> No item -> None.
2) Sidebar -> Layout -> Left sidebar
3) Sidebar -> Height -> 100% height

As far as I understand the illustrated in example picture boxes as a content I can add within wordpress usin one of plug-ins dedicated to this purpose?
The same with a small box/frame of text, I mean the right, content side?
