I am trying to figure out how to make the index page as home page

Question

I seem to be having a problem creating a home page with a fresh stating theme. How would I make the index page say home page on the left were it says index. It will not allow me to rename it says page already exist. Maybe I have to delete a page. I am new to template toaster great program. This is for wordpress can anyone help me please vinny

Hi,

Sorry, you can't change the index page name. But you can rename page template.

Ok so how come I see all of these other themes with no index page. I am a little confused on how to make this work. I am sure I will learn in time. So if I rename the template page dose this change the index page name.
