tab options in navigation bar

Question

Just trying out the demo version and new to template making.

I'd like to be able to have different images in each tab of my navigation bar (different color elements in tab that change with hover).

I'd also like to have a drop down area where I can put links, product or categories (slider). I've seen some jquery tabs sliders that are very nice. Is that something that can be made in TT, or brought into TT, or do I do a basic template in TT and then add more functionality by adding extensions in magento?

I think you'll need to add extensions for this
TT seems to me to only be a basic skin designer , not much more.
good for basic css, fonts etc, colors and rough layout.

After that you'll need to create static blocks in Magento and use 3rd party extensions.
I think so anyway, I'm pretty new to Magento
