A few tips on how to use a kitchen knife safely

We all know that cutting and chopping is important in everyday cooking, but using the best knife will not help you avoid injury if you don’t know how to handle it properly. Below are some tips on how to safely use a knife.

Use a sharp knife

You may ask why using a sharp knife is safer when you can get injured easily from a slight cut. The answer is the exact opposite: by using a sharp knife, you exert less strength than you do when using a dull knife. This alone will prevent you from slipping, thereby decreasing the risk of injuries. If you wish to sharpen your knives, simply use a sharpening stone or a knife sharpener.

But how sharp is sharp enough? Most knives require 20 degrees on each side of the blade for easy cutting. Unless you are not cutting many soft materials, consider continuing to sharpen the knife until it’s around 15 degrees on each side. Although doing that will make the knife sharper and give more precision while cutting, it will decrease the knife’s durability. So unless it is really necessary, keep it at 20 degrees most of the time.

The right knife for the right task

Although you might consider just using one knife throughout the cooking session as it costs less time or you might just be lazy, it is much safer if you use a different knife that is suitable for each task. However, there are many choices, and it will be a headache just to choose based on styles, shapes, and sizes of the knives available.

For sizes, choose the knife that is proportional to the food you’re going to cut; for instance, you cannot just use a fruit knife to chop a huge piece of meat, so use a cleaver instead.

Know your cutting technique

Even if you know how to choose and store your knife, you can still hurt yourself if you know the correct way to cut your food.

For starters, always cut ingredients on a cutting board; this will give you balance and a consistent surface for cutting. Next, you must have a firm grip on your handle; you can add more control if you use your pointer finger and thumb to grasp the side of the blade. Curl up your other hand slightly and press it on the food you're going to cut, as this will prevent you from cutting your fingers. Bring down the knife in one smooth motion, rinse, and repeat until you are done with the job.

Sometimes, you will drop your knife; in such a case, it would be wiser just to let it fall and stay away from the area. It is much better for you to clean or replace the knife than to risk being injured.

That’s right: if you always stay focused on what you are cutting, you will be less likely to cut yourself and have an accident. If you are distracted by something, stop using your knife and do what you have to do. After you’ve finished working on the distraction, you can resume your cutting task.

My question is for a Joomla files though it may apply to other platforms.

How do I open an older TTR file? I have one which may go back to TT6, but I still need to be able to open it. When I try, it says that my TT8 or TT7 needs to be update, but they are both updated. I can only imagine that the software does not recognize the file as older, rather than newer.

What is the process to open and upgrade TTR files to the current version? What good will it do to install version 6 to open the file if I cannot export the file to version 8 to update the Joomla template to current standards?

I have had a support ticket open on this since August with no reply. Is there any support anymore?

Interesting, that answer is to a question I asked some time ago about breakpoints vs fluid design with TT.
Sometimes I wonder if the moderators use fake names and English is not their native language!

I could not find anything either about your question or in the user guide. Do some searches with:
"difference between points and pixels"

All I could find was that Bootstrap 5 uses pixels.

As usual, put a ticket in and you'll probably get an answer.
If you do, please do a new post so we all know the answer.

I have been able to make an entire site from template toaster that is 100% transparent so it seems that to have "Site B" (Content) appear over "Site A" (Video) could be possible with some sort of Iframe Years ago we used to use <DIV> Tags but alas this seems no longer supported. But thanks for your assistance.

Ich habe es jetzt ausgiebig mit PHP 8.0.9 und Joomla 4.1.0 getestet und muss leider feststellen, dass es eine Menge Fehler im generierten Code gibt. Es ist also Nacharbeit angesagt. Zumal Joomla 4 mit Bootstrap 5 kommt.

I have now tested it extensively with PHP 8.0.9 and Joomla 4.1.0 and unfortunately have to conclude that there are a lot of errors in the generated code. So rework is called for. Especially since Joomla 4 comes with Bootstrap 5.

La verdad que estoy super cansado de tanto errores que ustedes generan y desestabiliza y es una perdida de tiempo que se pierde resolviendo esta situación por personas terceras que son ustedes, dependiendo de ustedes, incidencias que no se deben presentar en ninguna circunstancia con estas actualizaciones que ustedes hacen y lo que hacen es que empeoran mas las cosas, se nota que no hacen pruebas antes de lanzar una actualización, cómo paso el día de hoy 14 de diciembre con la versión 8.0.0.20400.

Esto da hasta vergüenza, cómo va ser posible que sigan persistiendo estos errores. Que desarrolladores tienen, son practicantes?, están aprendiendo con el TT8?, son peores que un principiante.

Ya tomé una decisión, no puedo seguir con esta situación tan inestable, me siento engañado, perjudicado y he quedado una cantidad de veces mal con mis clientes, debido a la inestabilidad de esta aplicación TT8.

TT8 The price does not match the quality. TT8 is a very poor quality product, which was released early on the market. You're doing experiments with paid clients. Serious firms use beta testers to catch bugs before going to market.

For example, Windows 10, more complex software products do not cost much more, but there are no obvious mistakes and they do not experiment with clients.

Take the example of WWB from Pablo Carrasco, it is cheaper and mistakes are solved faster. I'm really sorry that his product is incompatible with Joomla and WordPress.

I had to redo the project in TT7, this is my wasted time.

I've just realised that it is because the top option "New" that option is selected on mouseover and thus the other options cannot be selcted. My mouse doesn't do that with any other app.

While that is appreciated, some of the issues are with the TemplateToaster website. For example, the way one has to download templates via an email, which doesn't contain the project file download link.
