Hi,

just wondering if there's a feature for editing the local.xml like you have for javascript and css in TT5?

Sorry, there is no option to add local.xml file in TemplateToaster yet, for this you have to edit the file in directory. You can do it at app -> design -> frontend -> default -> themename -> layout -> local.xml .
